A rainy morning, turned sunny afternoon with Bigg's killer whales!

You never know what to expect out here with weather and whales. We made our way out into what was supposed to be a stormy day but were pleasantly surprised to have blue skies heading our way. Stopping at Pointer Island we got looks at cormorants, pigeon guillemots and a nice bob of harbor seals.

We continued west through the San Juan Islands and joined up with the T90s & T124A Bigg's killer whale pods!! We got to spend a lot of time with them as they headed through Wasp Pass. As we first got on scene we even got a nice close fly by from three bald eagles.

After lots of orca time, we headed over to Green Point on Spieden Island to check out a bunch of Steller sea lions before we swung back for one more look at our orca whales from earlier. We cruised back through Pole Pass and made our way back to Anacortes after that.

It was a perfect adventure on the Island Explorer 5, and we can't wait for tomorrow's 6-7 hour full day tour!
