Thick billows of smoke and fog lingered in the valley as the sun shone down upon Cap Sante marina and we began heading out into the Salish Sea. With some great morning reports we cruised down Guemes channel before stopping at Bird Rocks in Rosario Strait to check out the local wildlife. The rocks were covered by gulls, cormorants, and a few bobs of harbor seals. A nice group of curious Steller sea lions swam around the small refuge and we also spotted a harlequin duck!

Leaving the rocks we headed east toward Allan Island and Burrows Island into Burrows Bay where we joined the T90s and T101s. We cruised with them for a mile before continuing north in search of more wildlife. We found a couple marbled murrelets in Rosario Strait and searched to the north before rejoining the T90s/T101s. We got a few amazing looks as they headed into Thatcher Pass. Waving goodbye to them, we headed by James Island and stopped to check out a bait ball that was forming up. We started heading back toward the dock when sharp eyed Captain Carl spotted a lone wolf of an orca. It was T65A5 Indy and as usual he was alone. We got some decent looks at him as he was pointed toward Thatcher Pass but as time began to run out, we had to part ways. Waving goodbye to Indy we headed back to Anacortes and into Cap Sante Marina.
