Glassy seas and smokey skies across the heart of the Salish Sea today. We could spy every salmon leaping and alcid swimming in these smooth conditions as we worked our way south towards the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The Olympics guided us south through the haze, and as we neared Partridge Bank we passed thousands of gathered gulls and common murres!

Just inside of Admiralty Inlet, we met up with a group of eight Bigg’s killer whales: the T46s and T36As. They were wonderfully surface present, Strider giving us some closer looks as he traveled a bit apart from the pod. Thor was close to Centeki and Loki was busy rough housing with Storm. Little Squall stuck close to mama Leland and older sister Kailas. It was a serene encounter as they led us south into Puget Sound.

The cruise home was smooth sailing, with Koma Kulshan guiding us back towards Cap Sante.
