With a heat wave upon us we headed out into the Salish Sea, the coolest place to be on days like this. We made our first stop at Pointer Island where we found a good bob of harbor seals and a few black oyster catchers. We continued west from there, through Thatcher Pass and Upright Channel to Flat Point on Lopez Island.

Here we joined up with the T75B's Bigg's orcas as they were cruising to the north. The area was beautiful and after a few surfacing we had the whales dialed in perfectly. We followed them beyond Upright Head before waving goodbye and cruising to the south.

Making a slowdown at Whale Rocks we found a nice group of Steller sea lions as we circled the small rocky island. We did a big search from there out toward Hein Bank before making our way back to the east. We did a brief slowdown there and before leaving the area found a few turkey vultures and a bald eagle scavenging some prey on Lopez Island. We continued north from there to bird rocks and found a big group of harlequin ducks and of course our furry faced friend sea otter of Bird Rocks. We cruised home after that after a great day with this familiar pod of Bigg's killer whales!
