Blue skies and sunshine were all around as we left the dock this afternoon and ventured out into the Salish Sea. We started out with a very well hidden harbor seal and a bald eagle on the end of Guemes Island. From there we headed to Bird Rocks and found some Harlequin ducks and a bald eagle on the edge of adulthood. The kelp flies emerged with a vengeance and so we continued onward to the straight of Juan de Fuca.
Captain Carl took us into Cattle Pass where we were soon joined by the T65Bs and T75Bs Bigg's killer whales as they traveled together. We followed them out to the end of Salmon Bank and got lots of great looks. After quite some time, we waved goodbye and headed up to Castle Rock and Lawson Reef. On Lawson Reef captain Carl found us a napping Steller sea lion on one of the red marker buoys. We cruised home from there, passing lots of harbor porpoise before we made it back to Anacortes!
