It was a windy and glorious day on the Salish Sea, and we seized every moment of it. Heading south we cruised through Deception Pass, spotting eagle after eagle as we cruised along. Near Strawberry Point we found our first whale of the day, gray whale #56 Stardust, feeding in the shallow waters off Camano!
We continued from there and joined #2246 as they were heading toward Camano Island, and we wrapped things up with #53 Little Patch. It was great to see them all feeding between Whidbey and Camano. This group of gray whales has such an interesting history, and we love spending time with them!
We headed back to Deception Pass after and spotted two bald eagles eating a bird on the beach of Whidbey Island and soon after watched three eagles engaging in aerial combat. We headed to Seal Rock and saw a black oyster catcher, two more eagles, and a few weary harbor seals. We made our way home after that and ended our day of adventure on the high seas!
