It was a beautiful, crisp, foggy day out in the Salish sea but it didn't hinder us in the least. On our way south in Rosario Strait we found a few big groups of harbor porpoise feeding near Lawson reef. We pushed through the fog south of there and in no time at all a sharp eyed passenger spotted our first whale.

It turned out to be a gray whale and after dialing it in we found it wasn't alone. A second gray whale was traveling near it and both of them seemed to be doing large feeding patterns. We got some awesome views and it was so special to spend time with this species. This is the best time of year to see gray whales in the Salish Sea!

We headed north to Bird rocks after that and found a bunch of harbor seals and a few Steller sea lions. The fog was clearing and so we continued north in Rosario along Blakely island where we found a couple juvenile eagles and three adult bald eagles. One of the adults was even in its nest. We searched the waters near Sinclair Island before heading back down Bellingham Channel past many more groups of feeding harbor porpoises. It was an excellent day to be at sea!
