We headed west this afternoon toward reports in Haro strait. Making our way through the San Juan islands we passed a few groups of harbor porpoise before slowing down in Pole Pass. We continued west from there passing many large groups of common murres before reaching Kelp reef and joining the T65B pod of Bigg's killer whales. They were traveling south and at one point Birdsall T65B1 gave a lazy breach and looked to be playing in the kelp a little. We waved goodbye to the orcas after that and headed up to Spieden island where we found a fallow deer to start things off. Suddenly a herd of Sika deer came charging out of the forest and we followed them along the island. They passed a few feeding turkey vultures and many groups of mouflon sheep. It was pretty amazing to see such a large grouping of these deer, especially mid day. We headed back to the east after that and enjoyed a wonderful cruise back to the dock.
