We started our journey in a northward fashion today, through the Saddle bag islands and on up toward Bellingham bay. It wasn't long before a sharp eyed passenger spotted blows near Jack Island and with some extensive searching and whale patients, we found ourselves a gray whale. We got many looks at it before we continued our search toward Samish island. As we scanned the glassy waters Captain Carl spotted dorsal fins near the shore and in time at all the fins were heading our way. It turned out to be the T123 killer whales, a pod of 4 whales with one big male in the group. They had definitely just finished chowing on a harbor porpoise and were in high spirits as Darcy, the youngest, breached multiple times. The pod continued north after that and we followed them to Vendovi island before waving goodbye. From there we went up to Sinclair Buoy 4 and found a good group of Steller sea lions napping in the sunshine. On our return to Anacortes we took Bellingham channel and met up with our gray whale once again as it was trending south. We cruised back into the harbor after that to celebrate a most excellent day!!!!
