Orcas and humpback whales in one trip!

As the heat began to climb we headed for cooler weather in the Salish Sea. Stopping at Bird Rocks we found dozens of cormorants, a few groups of harlequin ducks, a couple bobs of harbor seals and a lone napping Steller sea lion.

We headed south from there to Smith Bank and joined up with two humpback whales that were slowly heading west. We got some great looks at these ocean giants - we're loving all these early season humpback sightings!

Just offshore of Allen island, we were stoked to meet up with another whale species: Bigg's killer whales! We joined up with T49A2 (Jude) and T51 (Roswell) as they traveled into Rosario Strait. We hung with them for some time before circling into Burrows Bay and behind Burrows Island. After a few more good looks we waved goodbye and headed back to Anacortes.

It was an amazing day with a great variety of whales and wildlife. With so much activity this spring, we can't wait for our Full Day 6-7 hour Tour on May 17th!!
