As we backed out of our slip we got some amazing looks at a great blue heron, preening itself on top of a fishing boat. We continued out into the Salish Sea and as we headed up Strawberry Island we spotted an adult bald in the trees. At that time we got a report to the north and so we headed north through the outer island chain. At Parker reef and Sucia Island we found the T75B'S and slowly got on scene. The Bigg's orcas were busy hunting and teaching the youngsters of the group. We got some awesome looks before sneaking over toward Clements reef. On the reef we found a few big Steller sea lions hauled out and some harbor seals. Out of no where the T75B'S came by the reef and stirred up some action before they continued to the north. We waved goodbye at that time and headed back to Anacortes.
We headed north this afternoon and as we dodged through crab pots on the backside of Guemes Island we began to see a lot of harbor porpoises. We continued up through the outer islands and soon entered Canadian waters just off of Tumbo Island. Here we got a very special treat and joined up with T65 Whidbey and T63 Chainsaw!!! It was so exciting to see this pair and get some great looks as they headed south. We waved goodbye to them after a bit and crossed the strait of Georgia to join the T75B'S and T100's. Laurels massive fin has grown so much and comparing him to T75B'S newest calf made him only seem bigger. Once we waved goodbye to the orcas we headed south and stopped at Clements reef. All though it was all but underwater a few Steller sea lions were still napping on it and surrounded by harbor seals. We continued our cruise home after that with some amazing conditions.
