We headed out into the Salish Sea for a beautiful morning cruise. As we entered into Rosario Strait Captain Carl found us an adult bald eagle on a navigation marker. After that we set out down Rosario Strait and stopped at Colville Island to check out some harbor seals. We continued west after that to search the shallow waters of Salmon Bank before heading to Hein Bank which was incredibly active. Bait balls and bird groups were popping up all over the place and in no time we found ourselves joining two minke whales for breakfast. We had some really good time with these two minkes as they destroyed one bait ball after another and became increasingly comfortable with the boat. After a while we waved goodbye and continued our search to the east. We swung in toward Castle Rock and found three more bald eagles. We cruised back up to Anacortes after that and completed a beautiful adventure on the Salish Sea.

With increasingly beautiful weather settling in a dn a bald eagle flying over head we cruised out into the San Juan Islands. A belted kingfisher was flying around the entrance of Cap Sante and a great blue heron was lurking through the intertidal zone outside the marina. We headed south and made our first slow down at Castle Rock for some wildlife including harbor seals and a bunch of pigeon guillemots. We continued west and when we got to salmon bank we found a nice big bait ball with a feeding minke whale in it. We had several great looks before branching off to the Salmon Bank marker to check out some Steller sea lions. Continuing west into Canada we joined the T65Bs Bigg's killer whales near Discovery Island and enjoyed some time with them!

On our way back to the east we stopped at Salmon Bank again as found a few more minke whales. After some great looks at the we decided to wave good bye before powering up and heading back to Cap Sante Anacortes.
