July 24, 2025 | 1 PM and 5 PM Whale Watch

As my once favorite singer Miley Cyrus said, “everyone has those days.” And today was one of those days all across the fleet! The IE5 took off the dock with great vibes and hopes for an awesome adventure, which it did end up being! While on our search for whales today, we traveled 75 miles and saw lots of beautiful wildlife like Bald Eagles on Cyprus Island, Stellar Sea lions growling on top the navigation marker, and glass calm waters. We made it all the way into Canada on our search and then made the turn coming home through Rosario Strait, as those waters had not been explored yet in the day. We stopped at Pea Pod rocks and saw some harbor seals laying out on the rocks soaking up the sunshine but unfortunately did not spot any whales! We look forwarding to see our guests today back when they redeem their fluke passes on their next trip out with us.

After a long search in the afternoon, we left the dock at 5 with high hopes and were ready for a fresh start! What a search we did. We traveled around 80 nautical miles on this afternoon trip, and we were able to avoid the winds and chop from the south. Some of our highlights from the PM trip were the stunning views of Mt. Baker, muflon sheep and Bald Eagles on Spieden Island, and Stellar sea lions not only on the navigation marker but also passing us in the water while on the hunt! Our guests and crew searched hard but had to call it a fluke as the sun started to set and the colors of the sky started to change. It was a day spent in binoculars searching, taking breaks to view the wildlife we were able to find! Thanks to the crew and guests today for their positive spirits, determination, and perseverance.

Why would we post about fluking? Because we are incredibly transparent about our sightings and believe in educating our guests about true whale watching in the wild. You can read our whale reports dating all the way back to before 2010! Despite our incredibly high success rate, there will inevitably be days when whales aren't in the area. We look forward to our next search and upcoming adventures on the water!

Whale wishes,

Clare
