It was another beautiful, sunny day out exploring the Salish Sea! We got off the dock with reports of whales not too far away so we decided to start our adventure with a cruise through Guemes Channel. We made the turn out of the channel to head through Bellingham Chanel towards the reports of orcas, stopping along the way at Peapod rocks. There we were able to watch a black oystercatcher trying to agitate a mature Bald Eagle. We also got to see dozens of harbor seals laying out on the shore line!
After our slowdown, we made our way towards Barnes and Clark Island where we caught up with the T36A killer whale pod. We got to watch them treadmill in the current line, waking up for a few minutes and change direction, pace, and create distance between the members of the group. It was awesome to see how quickly they can change their behavior!
We then continued on our way back towards Anacortes, sun shining the whole way home!
Whale wishes,
Clare
