We headed out on another hot day with a light breeze rolling over Fidalgo Island. Heading north around Guemes Island we saw a great blue heron flying along the shoreline and as we traveled, many different sea birds began to spring up. We saw groups of pigeon guillemots, rhinoceros auklets, cormorants, and even some long-tailed ducks. As we passed the Charlie navigation Buoy, we spotted a mature bald eagle while we were cruising.

We continued north along the outer island chain and began to see harbor porpoise as we crossed from Patos Island into Canada. We weren't across the border long before captain Carl had a couple humpback whales in sight. After a few looks we were able to identify them as Dalmatian and Divot, calves of well-known humpbacks Heather and Big Mama. We spent some time with them as they gave us some great views before we finally had to say goodbye. Cruising south, we stopped at Ewing Island to check out some Steller sea lions and a few more bald eagles before we headed back down to Anacortes.

We're looking forward to celebrating Mother's Day weekend on the water with our 10 AM tour on Friday, 10 AM & 3 PM tours on Saturday, and 10 AM trip on Sunday!
