What a weekend it has been and today we had an amazing time watching Bigg's killer whales! With warm weather coming in we headed out of Cap Sante marina and began our search. Heading down Rosario Strait we got some amazing views of Mt.Baker and a few of the Olympic mountain range peaks. We passed a nice bait ball near Kellet ledge before getting some great looks at a bald eagle on Lopez Island.
We headed west from there to the border of the USA and Canada and joined up with some Bigg's orca whales. We hung out with the T75Bs and T68 for some time as they were deciding which way they wanted to go. After a while they finally decided to head north so we settled in for a few more spectacular looks. Leaving the orcas we headed back to the east and slowed down at Castle Rock where we found a turkey vulture and a single harbor seal before we continued up Rosario strait. Stopping at bird rocks we found a nice group of black oyster catchers, another lone harbor seal and a friendly sea otter! We continued back in after that and had an amazing day on the water. This Memorial Day Weekend has been a memorable one with spring sunshine and so many awesome whale and wildlife encounters!
