Our April showers have certainly arrived in full force as we headed out to the Salish Sea. Before leaving Cap Sante marina we had a brief encounter with a California sea lion which was awesome. We headed down Rosario Strait and found our first gray whale of the day right off the end of the runway at NAS Whidbey.

We stuck with this whale for a while as it cruised along a shallow ledge. Waving goodbye we headed up to Deception Pass, and before we made our way through, another gray whale popped up! It was #53 Little Patch and all though it was odd seeing him outside Deception Pass it was still very enjoyable. We got some amazing looks before departing and heading under the Deception Pass Bridge.

After circumnavigating Strawberry Island we came back out of the pass and joined LP one more time. While we watched him Captain Carl spotted some Steller sea lions on the East Lawson reef Buoy. LP began to cruise away and he and waved us goodbye with his fluke. From there we headed back to the dock after a great day on the water!
