Whale watching season is here and today was our first trip of the year!
We headed inner island today, passing two adult bald eagles on Decatur Island before our sharp eyed crew spotted our first whale of 2025! It turned out to be a young juvenile humpback whale and it gave us many amazing views as we cruised with it. After submitting our photos to Happywhale, we found it was not in their database, but we got lots of fluke photos!
We spotted another bald eagle on Upright Head and then left the humpback whale as we headed to Peavine Pass. On Peavine Pass Rocks we found harbor seals and another bald eagle before heading to Peapod Rocks. We enjoyed watching harbor seals and two more bald eagles before starting for home. Our final wildlife sighting was a napping Steller sea lion on Buoy 16. What a great way to start the season!
