In addition to monetary donations to the above groups, we have given thousands of whale watching gift certificates to local charities and auctions throughout the years!
Island Adventures has taken every second grade student in the Anacortes school district for the past six years out on their Island Explorer vessels to experience our local wildlife. The second graders trip has become an annual tradition — the students that started this tradition will be in high school next year! Island Adventures is honored to have the opportunity to broaden the students’ knowledge of the natural world aboard the Island Explorer vessels.
Island Adventures also hosted the Mt. Erie Elementary PTA fundraising auction in 2010, which raised $17,600 for the students. In 2011, Island Adventures also donated a 5-6 hour private tour on Halcyon as well as an Orca tour for a family of four and a Gray whale tour for a family of four to the auction we hosted in 2010. The auction raised over $17,000 again in 2011.
In 2011, we will be donating the boat for a four hour circumnavigation of Fidalgo Island, an educational family-friendly tour during which we hope to raise an additional $5,000.00 for the students.
We have great kids in Anacortes and Island Adventures is proud to support the Anacortes School District!
