October 31, 2026 | 1 PM Whale Watch
As the veil thinned between this world and the next, we were unsure if we'd fall victim to tricks or benefit from treats on our Halloween whale watch!
We headed down Guemes Channel at the start, making our way through the heart of the San Juan Islands. At Poll Pass we got a report of a humpback whale back to the east, so we circled Crane Island and headed back to East Sound where we found BCY1552. We had some amazing time with this humpback and enjoyed every minute of it. From there we headed out Peavine Pass, and just outside of the pass, we found a nice harbor seal haul out. Traveling to Buckeye Shoal we found a lone Steller sea lion before heading down Rosario Strait toward some old reports.
We scoured the waters south of Bird Rocks, and with a little luck and a little skill, we found a nice group of Bigg's killer whales!! The first pod was the T123s, and they were joined by the T46B3s and T46C2. In total 7 whales, traveling up Rosario and giving us a perfect finish to our adventure. At one point the whales diverted over to Bird Rocks, giving a Steller sea lion the scare of a lifetime. We hung out with them for a while before finally heading home and ending an unbelievable October of whale watching fun. Happy Halloween everyone!!!
