Yesterdays thunderstorms had blown away and blue skies were settling in over the Salish Sea as we headed out of Cap Sante. We made our first stop at Williamson rocks and found a few harbor seals in the water and a bunch of cormorants and gulls. Just past Williamson we found two Steller sea lions hauled out on a marker buoy. We headed down to Lawson reef after that and joined up with the T99 pod of Biggs killer whales. As we got on scene they were finishing some prey sharing. Then, they headed south and took us down to Smith and Minor island. We departed the whales after heading just south of the island and then went and found a few tufted puffins on the northwest side of Smith island. We headed north after that and stopped just outside Washington Park where captain Carl found us another Steller sea lion on a marker buoy before taking us back in to Anacortes. What a great day exploring!
