June 3, 2026 | 1 PM Whale Watch

Sometimes while boarding, we're lucky enough to see purple sea stars attached to our docks. Today, we were treated with a gorgeous look at one of these invertebrates, which guests got to view during our boarding process!

Once out of the marina, our journey took us west through Thatcher pass and into the San Juan islands. Along our search, we spotted lots of foraging birds and a few harbor seals as well. We made a stop at Whale Rocks to check out a big group of Stellar sea lions before putting on a sweeping search of the northeastern Strait of Juan de Fuca. During our search we saw many auklets, cormorants, and harbor porpoise. As we rounded the Lopez shore line, captain Carl spotted some blows and we were soon on scene with a gray whale! We got some amazing looks as it fed heavily in the shallow waters. After a great time with this gray we kept our eyes out and scanning the whole way home, spotting a few more harbor porpoise darting through the surface along the way. What a fun adventure!
