Another double header this morning!

We began our journey heading south towards Smith Island, enjoying some incredible conditions with both the Cascade and Olympic Mountains in clear view. We headed south and as we passed Minor Island Captain Carl found us a humpback whale. We got some great looks, and another boat on scene may have made an identification, however we were not able to confirm.

We headed to Eastern bank after that and joined up with two Biggs orca whales named Flotsam and Jetsam, also known as T125A and T128. We hung out with these two big males for some time before having to wave goodbye and head north. We did a slow cruise through South Lopez and Castle Rock where we found some harbor seals, dozens of pigeon guillemots, and a bald eagle. After that we had a nice cruise home. What a great morning exploring the Strait of Juan de Fuca!

We had a most excellent evening today on the Salish sea full of great weather and wonderful wildlife. We headed south down Rosario strait and stopped at Colville island where we found a nice bob of harbor seals and a potential new pup of 2026. We continued from there to the south east and found the T65A's and T64B's just north of the Romeo Alpha buoy and Eastern bank.

These two pods of orcas gave us quite an amazing show and gave us a few close passes as they continued slowly north. After an exquisite time with these Bigg's orcas we traveled north to Whale rocks and found some Steller sea lions playing in the surf and hanging out on the rocks. Leaving Cattle pass we spent a little more time with the Bigg's killer whales from before and then headed east. We slowed down by Castle rock before making our way back to Anacortes.
