Sunshine as far as you could see and a wonderful trip into the west! We headed out from Cap Sante marina past a belted king fisher and great blue heron before picking up speed in Guemes Channel. We headed inner island and down San Juan channel before continuing west in the Strait of Juan de Fuca and into Canada.
We joined Bigg's killer whales (the T124As and T87) just north of Oak Bay on Vancouver Island which was nice and calm. We got some great passes from T124A and her two kiddos before branching off to go see T124A4, her kiddos, and T87.
We head up to Spieden Island which is always lush this time of year and today it was covered with moss phlox!! Along the beautiful green and purple hills, herds of sheep were roaming around in the sun and we stopped at Green Point to check out a bunch of Steller sea lions. We headed back after that and enjoyed a nice sunny return to Anacortes.
